A wildfire drama where the fire itself is a character. Simulated flame, smoke and ember storms had to be terrifying, physically believable and safe to shoot.
Create a wildfire that grows, behaves and threatens like the real thing, without ever putting cast or crew near open flame.
Fire had to interact with wind, terrain and buildings across long continuous takes, while staying readable for the audience and art-directable for the director.
Practical flame elements shot on a controlled stage were combined with large-scale Houdini pyro simulations. Low-resolution previews were approved for timing and shape before final simulation, saving weeks of render time.

Fire reads as scale. We used practical flame for close-up detail and simulation for everything that had to move through a landscape, then matched the two with shared colour and exposure references.
