Who we are
OptivaTemplates (“we”, “us” or “our”) is a remote studio that designs and sells website themes and templates through optivatemplates.com (the “Site”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at support@optivatemplates.com.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you create an account, buy a Product or contact us, we collect your name, email address, billing country and address, order details, and the content of any messages you send us, such as support requests.
Payment information. Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. They receive your card or payment details directly. We receive only limited information such as the payment status, the last four digits of your card and its expiry date.
License information. When you activate a Product, we record the license key and the domain it is activated on so we can manage your license.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our partners collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, approximate location, referring website, pages viewed, links clicked and time spent on the Site. This is collected through cookies, pixels and similar tracking codes.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- process your orders, deliver your Products and manage your licenses;
- create and manage your account;
- answer support requests and other questions;
- send transactional emails such as order confirmations, download links and important product updates;
- send marketing emails, but only if you have agreed to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time;
- understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it;
- measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads;
- prevent fraud, misuse of licenses and security incidents;
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Cookies and tracking codes
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Pixels and tracking codes are small pieces of code that send information to a service when a page loads. The Site uses:
- Essential cookies that keep you signed in, remember your cart and keep checkout secure. The Site cannot work properly without them.
- Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, which help us understand how visitors find and use the Site.
- Advertising cookies and tracking codes from Google Ads and other advertising partners, which measure conversions from our ads and help us show ads to people who have visited the Site.
Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies, and you can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings on the Site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may then stop working.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, to collect information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay and how you arrived at the Site. Google processes this information on our behalf and provides us with reports. We do not use Google Analytics to identify individual visitors by name.
You can learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. To stop Google Analytics from collecting your data on any website, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google Ads and remarketing
We use Google Ads to advertise our Products. Google Ads conversion tracking tells us when someone who clicked one of our ads goes on to make a purchase. Remarketing lets us show our ads to people who have previously visited the Site, on Google Search and on other websites and apps.
You can control the ads Google shows you through My Ad Center. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another region with similar laws, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to process orders, deliver Products, manage licenses and provide support.
- Consent: for analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required, and for marketing emails.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the Site secure, prevent fraud and improve our Products, in ways that do not override your rights.
- Legal obligation: to keep tax and accounting records.
How we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Payment processors that handle your payments securely;
- Service providers that host the Site, deliver downloads, send emails and help us run our business, under contracts that require them to protect your information;
- Google, for the analytics and advertising services described above;
- Authorities or other parties when required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of others;
- A buyer or successor if OptivaTemplates is involved in a merger, sale or reorganization.
We do not sell your personal information for money. Some US state laws treat the use of advertising cookies, such as Google Ads remarketing, as “sharing” or “selling” personal information for targeted advertising. You can opt out of this by declining advertising cookies in our cookie settings or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor.
International transfers
Our service providers, including Google, may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. When we transfer personal information out of the EEA or UK, we rely on recognized safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep information
We keep account and order information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide updates and support for your Products. We keep billing and tax records for the period required by law, usually up to seven years. Support emails are kept for up to three years after a request is closed. Analytics data is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings, which we keep to a maximum of 14 months.
Security
We protect your information with HTTPS encryption, access controls and trusted service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe and will notify you where required by law if a breach affects you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing;
- opt out of targeted advertising;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email support@optivatemplates.com. We will respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days, and may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Children’s privacy
The Site and our Products are not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
The Site links to live demos, stock photo libraries and third-party platforms such as WordPress, Shopify, Framer and Webflow. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant we will notify you by email or with a notice on the Site.
