Overview
When you buy a Product from OptivaTemplates, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it according to these License Terms. You are buying the right to use the Product, not ownership of it. These License Terms form part of our Terms & Conditions.
Single license
Unless the product page says otherwise, every Product is sold with a single license. A single license can be activated on one domain only. This means you can use the Product to build and run one website on one domain, such as example.com.
Each additional domain needs its own license. A separate live website on a subdomain, such as shop.example.com, also counts as a separate domain. For a Shopify theme, one license covers one Shopify store.
You may also install the Product on a local computer or on a private staging site for development and testing, as long as that copy is not publicly accessible and is used only to build or maintain the licensed website.
Bundle licenses
Some Products and packages are sold with a bundle license that can be activated on more than one domain. The number of domains included is stated on the product page at the time of purchase, and that number applies to your order. All other rules in these License Terms apply to each domain covered by a bundle license.
Moving a license to a new domain
If you change your domain, or a project ends and you want to use your license elsewhere, email support@optivatemplates.com with your order number and both domains. Once the Product has been removed from the original domain, we will move the activation to the new one.
What you can do
With a valid license, you can:
- use the Product to build one website for yourself, your business or one client;
- use that website for personal or commercial purposes, including selling products or services;
- change the Product’s design, layout, colors, code and content to suit your needs;
- receive updates and email support for the Product as described in our Terms & Conditions.
If you build a website for a client, you may hand that website over to them. The license for that domain then belongs to the client, and you need a new license for each additional client website.
What you cannot do
You may not:
- use one single license on more than one domain or store;
- resell, sublicense, share, give away or publish the Product, in its original or a modified form;
- offer the Product, or a theme or template based on it, for sale or download on any marketplace or website;
- use the Product in a website builder, SaaS platform or service that lets other people create their own websites from it;
- share your license key or download links with anyone else;
- claim that you designed the Product yourself or remove our credit from the Product’s source files.
WordPress themes and the GPL
WordPress is open-source software released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The PHP code in our WordPress themes is released under the GPL version 2 or later, and nothing in these License Terms limits the rights the GPL gives you in that code.
The single-domain activation, license key, theme updates and email support described in these terms are services provided by OptivaTemplates. They are only available for the number of domains covered by your license.
Astro, Framer, Shopify and Webflow products
Astro themes may be used for one website project on one domain. Framer and Webflow templates are delivered through each platform’s own remix or duplicate system and may be used for one published site. Shopify themes may be used on one Shopify store. Your use of each platform is also subject to that platform’s own terms and marketplace rules.
Images and third-party assets
Images shown in our live demos come from Pexels, Pixabay, StockSnap and PxHere. They belong to their original creators and are provided under each library’s own license, not under these License Terms. OptivaTemplates does not own these images and does not grant you any rights in them.
These libraries generally allow free personal and commercial use, but they also have restrictions. For example, you usually may not sell unaltered copies of a photo, use identifiable people in a way that suggests they endorse your business, or use visible brands and trademarks in misleading ways. If you keep any demo image on your live website, it is your responsibility to check and follow the license of its source library. We recommend replacing demo images with your own photos or properly licensed images before launch.
Fonts, icons, plugins and other third-party components included with or recommended for a Product are also covered by their own licenses, which are noted in the Product’s documentation where applicable.
Ownership
OptivaTemplates keeps all rights, title and interest in the Products, including their design, code, layouts and documentation, except for third-party components that belong to their own owners. The content you add to your website, such as your text, logo and photos, remains yours.
Ending a license
Your license lasts for as long as you follow these License Terms. If you break them, your license may be ended without refund, and we may deactivate your license key and stop providing updates and support. If your license ends, you must stop using the Product and delete all copies of it, except for any GPL-licensed code as described above.
