Most of the dancers I coach before auditions do not need more technique. They need a plan, enough sleep and a variation they can perform on a bad day.
Weeks one and two are about the barre: clean, slow, honest. Weeks three and four build the centre and the jumps. The last fortnight is performance only — run the variation in different studios, in front of strangers, in shoes that are not quite broken in.
On the day itself, warm up longer than you think you need, eat something small, and remember the panel wants you to be good. They are on your side.
